James T. Arndts
Age 88, of Dayton, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at Kettering Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1928 in Dayton to the late Theodore & Mary Louise (Rein) Arndts. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Jean Arndts, in 1985; daughter, Loran Smith; son-in-law, Charles Huber; and infant son, J. J. Arndts.
James was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. He graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor’s Degree and was the first Center to be recruited by Coach Tom Blackburn for the U. D. Flyers. From 1968-72 he served as a Butler Twp. Trustee and he retired from The Prudential Insurance Company with 37 years of service.
Jim is survived by his significant other of the past 30 years, Marilyn Holland; children, Teresa Huber, Steve Arndts (Patti), David Arndts (Denise), James Arndts (Patricia) & Susan Daily; 11 grandchildren & 17 great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday (May 5) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Francis Keferl at 10:00 a.m., Friday (May 6) at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Rd., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Jim to the Boy Scouts of America.
