James E. Burton

Age 74, a resident of Vandalia for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2016, with his family by his side.

Jim was born July 12, 1942 in Dayton to the late Eugene & Lee Etta (Wethington) Burton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Burton in 2006.

He was a graduate of Chaminade High School, class of 1960 and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from the University of Dayton. He retired from Ledex in Vandalia with 29 years of service as a Mechanical Engineer.

Jim is survived by three children, Diane Steffes (Gary), David Burton (Janet) & Ronald Burton (Carolyn); five grandchildren, Drew (Brooke), Alicia (Nick), Ryan, Rachel & Nicholas; one great grandchild, Cash; and by his extended family & many good friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday (11/20) at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia.
