CAMPBELL, James E., age 80 of Vandalia passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born January 3, 1935 in Dayton, OH. James was a retired Carrier with the United States Postal Service and was also a U.S. Army Veteran. James was a lifelong avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Dayton Flyers. Preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet Campbell of Vandalia; 4 children, Jackie Mitchell (Rob) of Lima, Julie Strader (Todd) of Butler Twp, Jeff Campbell (Linda) of Centerville and Judy Pinson (Mike) of Vandalia; 9 grandchildren, Kayla, Wesley, Jason, Elizabeth, Andrew, Claudia, Rianna, Rebekah and Jennifer; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Tom Wood, along with numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 20 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vandalia Fire Association, 8705 Peters Pike, Vandalia, OH 45377.
