James "Russ" Cooper

COOPER, James Russell Russ Sr. age 74 of Butler Twp. passed away Sunday March 28, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Russ was born December 14, 1935 in Kittaning, PA son of the late David & Florence (Wolfgang) Cooper. Russ was a 1954 Graduate of Vandalia Butler High School. He was the Owner/ Operator of Coopers Printery Inc, which has been in business for 62 years and was selected as the Butler Twp. Businessman of the Year in 2002. He was a member of the Vandalia Kiwanis Club, the Vandalia Butler Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post# 668 and was a life member of Amvets Post #99. Russ was preceded in death by one sister Helen Balmert. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Charlene Cooper; one son Jim & wife Ruth Cooper of Hilliard; one daughter Danette (Cooper) & husband Joe Gauthier Sr of Tipp City; one brother David Cooper of Potsdam; 4 grandchildren Ashley Cooper, Alexandria Gauthier, Joe Gauthier Jr., Erin Gauthier; 2 step-grandchildren Chris & wife Kim Litteral and Missy Litteral; best friends Loretta & Ray Geiger, and an outstanding employee for the print shop Betty Thayer and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many many friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 1 at 10:30am at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Tom Weeks officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association or to the Dayton Heart Association in Russs memory. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Main Street Medical Staff and to Dr. Fujimura, Dr. Wittberg and Dr. Jovanov and also for the special care provided by Dr. Charles Bane and his staff and Dr. Reginald Sequeira and his staff for all the wonderful care of Russ during his illness.
