DESCH, James B., age 86 of Butler Twp., passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Englewood Manor. He was born May 15, 1925 in Dayton, OH, son of the late John & Virginia (Cowan) Desch. James was a US Army Veteran of WWII, a 1943 graduate of Chaminade High School and a 1950 graduate of the University of Dayton. He was also a member of the St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia. James spent his life educating children at numerous Dayton area schools including Huffman, Belle Haven and Orville Wright, where he retired in 1978. He also spent several years as a U.S. Postal Carrier, retiring in 1988. Preceded in death by his brother, Jack Desch and his sister, Mary Glassmeyer. James is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Genevieve (Jean) Desch; 4 sons, Mark Vincent (Lois), Damian Anthony (Laura Beardsley), Anthony John (Terry), and Sean Caruso (Pearl); 1 daughter, Monica Maria Desch Garrison (David); 5 grandchildren, Alexandra, Martin, Ian, Benjamin, & Amanda, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and his loving cat Andy. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 18, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of service and after the interment at St Christopher Church . The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton and all the nurses from Hospice and Englewood Manor. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
