James H Dew

DEW, JAMES H. Jr., age 83, of Washington Twp., formerly of Vandalia, passed away Monday, April 13, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born August 18, 1925 in Knoxville, TN, son of the late James H. Dew Sr. & Chassie M. (Kersey). James was a retired meteorologist with the National Weather Service and had the opportunity to travel the world with the US Coast Guard during his weather career. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of the NRA. James was kind and generous and always quick with a joke. Preceded in death by his wife, Juen (King) in 2004 and 1 brother, James is survived by his son, Randy & wife, Lisa Dew; his daughter, Tracy & husband, Mark Henderson; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Dew, Adam, Courtney and Alex Henderson; 6 sisters in TN and many treasured friends, especially his group from Boston Stoker. A Celebration of Life will be held for James at 7:00 pm, Friday, April 17 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Bobbi Predmore officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in memory of James.
