James W. Hall

Age 78, of Vandalia, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Jim was born April 19, 1938 in Rockwood, TN to the late Winfred & Ann (Smith) Hall.

Jim was a graduate of Vandalia-Butler H.S. (aka, Morton H.S.), class of 1957 and he retired from the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center. He was an avid golfer having won multiple championships at Cassel Hills Golf Course and he had six Holes-in-One to his credit.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of the past 50 years, Carol E. (Kirchner) Hall; three children, Jill Hollon (Jason), Jimmy Hall (Jill) & Barry Hall; ten grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Anna, Tyler, Jacob, Alex, Kaylah, Coltin, Deakota & Luke; three great grandchildren, Owen, Anthony & Lilah; and by his extended family and many good friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday (3/1) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Pastor Pamela Wantz will officiate. Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the Vandalia Fire Department – EMT’s and The Hospice of Dayton for the excellent care they provided to Jim.

If friends desire, contributions may be made in memory of Jim to either the Vandalia Fire Department or The Hospice of Dayton.
