James R. “Rick” Miller

Age 62, of Troy, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, at his home. Rick was born April 24, 1955 in Dayton to James H. & Marjorie A. (Pearson) Miller.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandmother, Grace Pearson; mother-in-law, Gladys Evans; and step-father, William Halstead.

Rick was a member of Living Word Church in Vandalia. For many years he was an insurance agent for Bankers Life Insurance Co. and later went on to start his own agency, American Financial Consultants. He was also an avid Elvis Fan.

In addition to his mother, James is survived by his loving wife, Susan D. (Evans) Miller; three children, Alisha A. Cagg (Eric), Carl Kipp Huntsberger (Ericka) & Corey J. Huntsberger (Brittany); two brothers, Michael Miller (Sharon) & Jeffrey Miller (Lisa); 8 ½ grandchildren, Maddie, Rickey, Paige, Morgan, Cayla, Cowen, Karli, Kenley & another due to be born in November; and by his extended family & many good friends.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 26, at Living Word Church. Pastor Pat Murray will officiate. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made in Rick’s memory to the Living Word Church – “Gem Fund,” 926 E. National Road, Vandalia, Ohio 45377.
