James H. Teague A devoted husband, father & grandfather, age 93, of Tipp City, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2015. He was born August 2, 1922, in Clairfield, Tennessee, the third of nine children, to Gilbert & Lucy (Hatfield) Teague. James was a member of the Vandalia Baptist Temple where he served as a deacon for many years; a life-member of the Vandalia VFW Post # 9582 on Old Springfield Road; the Vandalia Masonic Lodge; and he was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. During WW II he served in the U. S. Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He went on to work at the Air Temp division of Chrysler for 32 years and retired in 1978. James is survived by his beloved wife of the past 69 1/2 years, Virginia J. (Siler) Teague; six children, Nancy Murray (Dean), James Teague (Leafy), Cindy Larson (Mike), Reba Mullins, Thomas L. Teague and Karla Brooks (Joe); 13 grandchildren, Dawn, Michael Wayne, Ethan (Trudy), Seth (Shilpa), Otto (Therese), Amy (Matt), Adam (Jennifer), Miranda, Jessica, Joshua, Stephanie, Jim (Lisa) and Joey (Brittni); 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including Arville, Johnny and Robin; and by his extended family & many good friends. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday (8/31) at the Vandalia Baptist Temple, 724 Helke Road, Vandalia. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday (9/1) at the church with Pastor Rick Washburn officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia. Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia, is in charge of arrangements. If friends desire, contributions may be made in memory of James to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
