Janet Louise Biery

Janet Louise Biery, age 70, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016. She was born July 24, 1945 in Dayton to the late Nicholas Francis & Laveda Sarah Ann (Swerking) Biery.
She lived most of her life in Dayton and was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, class of ’63 and earned her degree from the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, class of ’67.
Janet was retired from a thirty-five-year career as an R.N., many of those years working with high-risk babies in neonatal wards. She served five years in the Air Force, rising to the rank of Captain. During the Vietnam war, she accompanied severely wounded Vietnam soldiers home on many flights.
She is survived by two brothers, Jerry N. Biery & his wife, Janet, and Edward R. Biery & his wife, Sharyl; one nephew Nicholas Biery and three nieces Sarah, Stephanie, & Jacklyn, and six great-nephews and one niece, Karl, Derek, & Julia Biery, Sam & Jacob Pinyon, and Carson & Zac Mielke.
The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Malcosky officiating. Interment will be at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
