Butterworth, Janet E.

Age 90 of Vandalia, passed away unexpectedly Monday March 7, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born on October 13, 1925 in Montgomery County, daughter of the late Richard & Betty (DeHaven) Somers.

Janet was a longtime and active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where she had served as church secretary. She was a member of Travelers Aide, P.E.O. & The Dayton Women’s Club, and was a volunteer at Goodwill & the Dayton Art Institute. Janet was also an avid golfer and enjoyed her time on the course playing golf with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Doc” Butterworth, son Jeffrey Butterworth and sister June Irons.

Janet is survived by her daughter Jane Butterworth of Vandalia and 2 granddaughters Emily Wessel of Rockville, MD and Dr. Natlie Wessel of Sacramento, CA.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 12 at 10:30am at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia. Burial will follow at the Miami Cemetery in Waynesville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-7pm.
