Janet E. Gilp

GILP, Janet Elaine (Olwine) age 77, of Dayton Ohio, died in her sleep August 9, 2013. Janet was born February 16, 1936, in Dayton Ohio to Robert and Esther (Housekeeper) Olwine. She attended Trotwood Madison High School and continued her education at Muskingum College in New Concord Ohio, graduating in 1958. Janet worked for many years as part of the Vandalia-Butler school system as a tutor and providing in-home instruction for students who could not attend school for extended periods of time. She enjoyed sports of all kinds as a player, coach, official, and spectator. She also enjoyed music of all varieties, attending the theater, and spending time with family. She is survived by her sister Judi Swihart and her husband, Glen (Steve) of Huber Heights, son Brian and his wife, Kennedi of La Plata, Maryland, son Robert and his wife, Angela and their children, Payton and Dylan of Silver Spring, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Elmer Fredrick Gilp. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, August 16 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 am until time of service.
