Janet K. Harris

HARRIS, Janet K., age 78 of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born July 18, 1938 in Findlay, OH, daughter of the late James M. & Thelma M. (Earnst) Hackenberger. Janet was a former member of the Northridge Wesleyan Church and most recently attended the Skyview Wesleyan Church. Her family was her treasure and Janet had a special passion and love for children, especially babies. She lovingly cared for children in her home and also worked many years at Anna’s Day Care. Preceded in death by her husband, George Harris; 1 son, Michael; 1 sister, Mary Robinson, and her beloved dog, Rudy, Janet is survived by her daughters, Beverly Dumler of Vandalia and Beth Emrick (Ken) of Bellbrook; grandchildren, Cody, Brooke, Erika, Zach, Ben & Cole; 6 sisters, Ruth Shepherd, Joan Fisher, Barb Fogle, Jeanie Eisenhut, Lou Mefford & Sarah Tarzinski; 1 brother, Jim Hackenberger; close friends, Betty & Diane, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, September 23 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Janet’s memory.
