Janet A. (Niekamp) Imwalle,

Age 84, of Vandalia, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.  She was born January 27, 1938 in Mercer County, Ohio daughter of the late William Alfred and Martha (Deppen) Niekamp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Edward Imwalle and several siblings: Bernice & Mark Kremer, Doris Niekamp, Larry Niekamp, Ruth & Evart Dorsten, Joe DeLellis, Cy Niekamp, Don & Audry Niekamp.  Janet was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia. She graduated from Marion Local High School and retired from the University of Dayton.  She enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s various activities and was an avid supporter of the University of Dayton Flyer Basketball teams.  She loved playing cards, and enjoyed spending time at The Villages in Florida.

Janet is survived by her four children, Todd Imwalle (Linda), Lis-Beth Dahlinghaus (Rory), Shane Imwalle (Christine) & Hondo Imwalle (Kim);  10 grandchildren, Winston (Alexis), Colin, Bailey, Trevor, Sara (Neil), Drake, Taylor, Anna, Spencer & Claudia; three great grandchildren, Caroline, Paige & Luke;  brothers & sisters: Nita DeLellis, Moe & Diane Niekamp, Dale & Shirley Niekamp, Mike & Brenda Niekamp, in-laws: Roberta Niekamp; sisters-in-law, Doris Imwalle and Phyllis Imwalle; and by her extended family & many good friends.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Rd., Vandalia, Ohio 45377. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, by Rev. Fr. Gene Contadino on Thursday, December 22 at the church. A private inurnment ceremony will be held at a later date at St. John Cemetery in Maria Stein, Ohio.   The family would like to offer their special thanks to the staff from Ohio’s Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Janet.  In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Janet to The Ohio’s Hospice, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.  Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia, Ohio.
