SPANG, Janet L (nee McDonald), 85 of Clayton Township, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 4th. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mary McDonald, and husband, Richard Spang. She leaves behind sisters, Shirley Fleckenstein of Dayton, and Gail Bush of Charlotte, NC, and all five children, including son, Louis (Mike) Ross-Spang and wife, Carol of Memphis, TN, their children, Matt and Allison; daughter, Mary (Christine) and husband, Paschal DeAloia of Clayton, their children, Sara, Emily and husband, Luke, and David and wife, Natalie; daughter, Katherine (Kate) and husband, Bob Segi of Dayton; their children, Elaine and Adam; son, Raymond (David) and wife, Dorothy of Dayton, their children, Elliott (and great-grandson, Aiden), and Maxwell; daughter, Elaine and husband, Steve Ingwersen of Tetonia, ID, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and longtime friends. Janet worked for many years at 3rd National Bank. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and St. Christopher Catholic Church, where she often volunteered to help at their annual festival. Her life was well-lived, and she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Janet donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Wright State Universitys Boonshoft School of Medicine. A Celebratory Mass will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 10:00 am, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia. The family will receive visitors from 9:00 am until time of service. A lunch gathering to honor her memory will be held at the church immediately afterward. The family would like to request that any donations on her behalf be made to your charity of choice in lieu of flowers. Arrangements by Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
