Jeannette R. Brooks

BROOKS, Jeannette R., age 89, of Vandalia passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born July 28, 1922 in Dayton, OH, daughter of the late Lawrence & Pearl (Hodapp) Parin. Jeannette was a retired employee of General Motors, was a member of the Red Hat Society of Vandalia & Huber Heights and attended both Queen of Martyrs and St. Christopher Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her first husband, Leslie Bud Simon, second husband, Ralph Brooks, and one son, Denny Simon, Jeannette is survived by her daughters, Darla Francisco (Rick) of Vandalia, Brenda K. Byrd (Ron) of Vandalia, step-daughters, Becky Mallett (Bruce) of GA and Amy Brooks of Huber Heights; 1 sister, Betty Schweller of Dayton; 8 grandchildren, Andrea Spencer (Marty) of Columbus, Heather Decker (Rob) of Vandalia, Amanda Macher (Jason) of TN, Angie Byrd (Eric) of Cleveland, Brittany Geherts (Nick) of IL; Jennifer Bird (Kevin), Hollie Hendershot (Keith) and Ben Mallett (Sarah), all of GA; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am, Thursday, January 5, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl & Fr. Robert Monnin officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Wednesday evening from 5-8 pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Jeannettes memory.
