McCALLISTER, Jerry A age 74, passed away at home on Sat. October 10th, 2009 under the care of family and Hospice of Dayton. Jerry was born May 5, 1935 in Brookville, Ohio and graduated from Brookville High School in 1953. He took college courses while working at NCR. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was preceded in death by his father, Rubert E. McCallister and his loving wife, Nancy. He is survived by his mother Florence, of Dayton, his sister Joyce and her husband Dick Gottschall of Cincinnati, his son, Michael A. McCallister of Dayton, daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Randy Hatmaker of Tennessee, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grand child and friends too numerous to count. The Screwmaker worked as a machinist at NCR and other shops in the area. He was an endowed 32nd degree Mason and member of the Trotwood/Brookville Lodge, past Shriner and member of the Motor Corps, appearing as Snoopy in parades. He served on the Trotwood Rescue for many years, was an avid bowler and enjoyed woodworking. He was also member of the Gaelich Cumann Irish Club in Dayton. A longtime motorcycle enthusiast, he was known for his Briggs and Stratton Lowrider and could be found spreading cheer wherever he stopped. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 13 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Burial to follow at Royal Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Jerrys memory.
