Jewell O'rean Noble-Smith

August 15, 1925 — April 23, 2015

SMITH, Jewell O'rean (Noble) age 89 of Butler Twp., passed away peacefully Thursday April 23, 2015. She was born August 15, 1925 in Breathitt County, KY daughter of the late Caleb & Mary Noble. Mrs. Smith was a retired school teacher from Brantwood Elementary where she retired after 30 years of service. She was a graduate of the University of Dayton where she earned her Bachelor and Masters Degrees and was a member of the Mad River Teachers Retirement Association. She was a true sports fan who especially enjoyed rooting for the U.K. Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds. Jewell was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Smith and 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children Cathy Smith Haught and husband Charles Dean Haught, Douglas Ernest Smith and wife Debbie Smith; grandchildren Stacy Cathleen Haught, Derrick Smith, Douglas Smith II, David Smith, Maria Smith Castle; two great-grandsons Lincoln Smith and Alexander Smith; one sister Fay Noble Sowers and one brother June Jett Noble, and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 29 at 10:00am at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia. Entombment will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-8pm. We hope that Jewell's many friends and family members will remember her for her kindness and the love she had for them. We hope that everyone who knew Jewell will cherish the time she was able to share with them, keep her in their hearts always and never forget a wonderful teacher, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend she genuinely was. Jewell so easily offered her love to us all and had so much more to give. That love, her love, will continue to fill our hearts today and always.
