Joan W. Marshall

Marshall, Joan W. age 82 of Vandalia, passed away Saturday May 12, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital following an illness. Joan was born November 25th, 1935 in Red Oak, NC, daughter of the late Clarence & Annie Wynne. She was the original school crossing guard at Helke Elementary and was a volunteer at Demmit Elementary for many years. Joan was preceded in death by 5 brothers Clarence, John, Charles, James, Carson; one sister Elaine and daughter-in-law Tina Marshall. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Richard Marshall; one son Greg Marshall of Vandalia; one daughter Barb & husband Dave Okonski of WI; 4 grandsons Sean, Kyle (Morgan), Tim, and Alex; 3 great-grandchildren Dylan, Ryan and Kayleigh and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Thursday evening from 5 to 7pm. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vandalia Butler Food Pantry in Joan’s memory.
