Joan I Smith

SMITH, Joan I. age 81 of Vandalia, passed away Saturday April 19, 2014 at Stongspring Care Center. Joan was born November 16, 1932 in Dayton, daughter of the late Floyd & Eva (Rife) Isreal. Joan was a retired employee of National City Mortgage. She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Smith, one son William J. Smith II, 2 sisters June Kressbach, Joyce Isreal and one brother George Isreal. Joan is survived by 3 daughters Rebecca Ewry of Vandalia, Sally (Joe) Yedlosky of Kettering, Sandra (Dan) Clarke of Huber Heights; 2 sisters Jane Lane of CA, Jill West of Dayton; 2 brothers Thomas Isreal of Dayton and John Isreal of Huber Heights; 6 grandchildren Andrew, Molly, Jennifer, Chad, Jason (Jennifer), Justin (Stephanie); 4 great-grandchildren Sampson, Allie, Kinsey, Eva and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 23 at 11:00am at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:30am to 11:00am. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the St Christopher Church Bereavement Ministry in Joan's memory.
