BISHOP, JoANN age 83 of Vandalia, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015. JoAnn Vanscoy Bishop was born February 1, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from South High School in 1951, and married her sweetheart, Guy C. Bishop Jr. on January 5, 1952, just before he shipped out to serve in Korea. They shared 62 years of marriage in loving devotion to one another. He preceded her in death, passing away on May 11, 2014. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Irene Vanscoy. She was an active member of the Vandalia community for most of her life. She was a longtime member of Vandalia United Methodist Church, and had served with the Vandalia Lioness Club. She enjoyed playing golf and her golfing buddies at Cassel Hills Golf Course. She also enjoyed gardening and was never happier than when out digging in the dirt. She was an avid Buckeye fan. JoAnn had the gifts of thoughtfulness, cheerfulness, compassion, and perfecting the art of friendship. She was friendly and wore a smile everywhere she went. She helped others on a daily basis. She was a bright light in this world. She had many friends who loved her dearly, including two of her oldest friends, Jan Slinkard and Doris Warner and her 'Vandalia daughter', Debbie McCracken. She was a devout Christian, providing the guiding light in her life. Her faith kept her going after losing her beloved husband Guy in 2014. She is survived by daughter Jill Lenore and son Jeffrey Clayton, beloved siste, Lee Stotski and her family: Joe, Eric, Marc, Lara, Angela Marie, Kristin Michele and James Agar, Amelia, Jude. Her Columbus family was very important to her and she treasured each and every one. She is also survived by special nephew Michael Klingler, Bellvue, OH and niece Lin Krecow, Austin, TX. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 1pm, Thursday, November 19, at the Morton Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr, Vandalia, Ohio. The service will take place at 1pm. Burial immediately after at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vandalia Methodist Church. Envelopes available at Morton Whetstone.
