Joanna K. Stiver

STIVER, Joanna K., age 71 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014. She was born June 29, 1943 in Richmond, Indiana. Joanna placed a high value on education, earning both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Ball State University. She started her teaching career in the Dayton School systems, specializing in Deaf Education. She continued as a Speech Pathologist and ultimately retired from the Preble County MRDD. She also took pride in her role as a mentor while supervising student teachers from Antioch Midwest. Joanna was preceded in death by her mother, Helen (Swaim) Bennett, and is survived by her father, Emerson Bennett; her husband of 46 years, Charles Stiver; 2 sons, Chad Stiver and Craig Stiver (Carla); grandchildren, Kayla, Josie and Charlie along with numerous cousins in Indiana, other relatives and friends. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 28 at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Vandalia. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
