WHITSON, Joe Kenneth age 75 of Waynesville formerly of Vandalia, passed away Saturday July 28, 2018 at Otterbein of Lebanon after a lengthy illness. Mr Whitson was born August 10, 1942 in Pulaski County KY, son of the late John & Hazel (Stogsdill) Whitson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a retired employee of Chrysler Corp with 37 years of service. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Vandalia and was a longtime baseball coach in the community. Mr Whitson was preceded in death by his wife Vonnie Whitson; one daughter Nicky Shackelford; one sister Dorothy Irene Whitson and one brother Larry Whitson. He is survived by 2 daughters Kendra (Joshua) Wells and Sherry Ringo; 2 sons Ken (Jenette) Whitson and David (Karrie) Shackelford; 3 brothers William Whitson, Johnny (Anita) Whitson, George (Rhonda) Whitson; 2 sisters Ruth Ann Hardwick, Jeannie (Lester) Hamm; 12 grandchildren Michael, William, Matthew, Christopher (Maykayla), Katie, Courtney, Zachary, Dustin (Amber), Beth, Isabella, Brayden, Lillian; great-grandchildren Athena, Amoura, Lucas, Kaleb, Keaton and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 31 at 1:00pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Barry Quillen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00am to 1:00pm In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dayton Area Diabetes Assoc. in Mr Whitson’s memory.
