John Edward Adams passed away July 28, 2024. He was born to Luther Marshall Adams and Sylvia Zella Osborn Adams on September 24, 1932, in Normantown, West Virginia. John is survived by his wife of 71 years. He married Florence Imogene Adams (Jean) on July 4, 1953 in Carter County Kentucky.

Mr. Adams is also survived by his 7 children, Diana Stapleton (Steve), Carl Adams (Judy), Donna Dearstone, Karen Wright (Charles), Melissa Shaffer (Phil), Melanie Woodworth (David), and Sylvia Adams. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Virginia Raikes and Marilyn (Micke) Huff. John was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers; Lavina Mae (Jackie)McCray, Wanda (Joni) Shreeves. Joanna Lou (Jo) Branson, Neva Lynn, Mary Ruth Adams, James (Jim) Adams, Homer Adams, and granddaughter, Hannah Joy Stapleton.

John was in the Merchant Marines and the Army. He served during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. John retired from Dayton Tire and Rubber in 1980. He then built an average of one house a year for the next several years; he completed a total of 10 homes. He was a skilled carpenter and mechanic and could fix just about anything. John loved the outdoors and he loved to be in his garden. He would rather grow enough tomatoes for the whole neighborhood than to let one volunteer tomato go to waste.

John gave his life to Christ and was baptized at the age 84. That was a joyous day and many of his children and grandchildren were at his baptism.
