FELLER, John Jr., age 91, born in Dayton, Ohio on March 25, 1924, John was the eldest son of the late John Sr. and Elsie (Platzer) Feller. He was preceded in death by his brothers Carl and Fred Feller. John attended Patterson High School in Dayton and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and World War II, and retired from the Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was also a longtime member of Saint Christopher Catholic Parish. John enjoyed a diverse career in Dayton, at a time when the area was a hub of innovation, which involved him in the development of inkjet printing, the installation of optics at an observatory in the French Pyrenees (used to photograph the moon), and the design of an IV catheter that earned a patent in 1982. Also a talented athlete, he played baseball at UC, coached high school players in Vandalia's summer league in the late 60s and early 70s, and golfed well into his later years. We will remember him for his humility and his sincerity. He was a good listener, genuinely interested in other people and their pursuits; a lifelong reader, known to stay up into the wee hours finishing a good book; and a family man who was happiest at "509," surrounded by those he loved, where the traditions of colored pancake breakfasts and artfully decorated Christmas cookies began. John's greatest accomplishments were those of Husband (for 64 years) to the love of his life, Norma Jean, Father to his devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon (Mike) Severt, Pam (Steve) Amlin and Debbie (Tony) Hayes, Grandpa to Jake (Tera) Amlin, Charlie (Tiffany) Amlin, Abby (Brett) Jones, Jenny Severt, Zachary Severt, Hannah Hayes and Taylor Hayes, Great Grandpa to Olivia, Emma, Paige, Peyton and Elsie Amlin, and Caden and Kellan Amlin, Brother-In Law to Connie Feller, and Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, all beloved. We would like to thank the devoted staff of Randall Residence and all of his caregivers past and present, for their love and support, St. John's Catholic Church in Tipp City, for the outreach programs they afforded John and Norma, and the staff of Crossroads Hospice for their compassion and guidance on this journey.
