FREEMAN, John D. age 87 of Troy, formerly of Vandalia passed away Friday November 23, 2012 at Koester Pavilion. John was born November 2, 1925 in Homer, IN son of the late Fred & Marie (Krammes) Freeman. John was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and was a retired train dispatcher for the B&O Railroad for 33 years. John loved to raise show horses and did so throughout most of his life. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers George, Bill, Neil, and Bob. John is survived by his wife of 66 years Anna R. (Jones) Freeman; 3 daughters Karen & husband Don Profitt of Orlando, FL, Gale Freeman and Jeanne Fritts both of Troy; one son Stan & wife Sandy Freeman of Whitefish, MT; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday November 26 at 11:30am at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Dan Fritts officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:30am until time of the service.
