John A Tabbert

TABBERT, John A. Jr., age 87, of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Dayton VA Medical Center. He was born February 27, 1922 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, son of the late John A. Sr. & Mary Ella (Smiley) Tabbert. John was a retired employee of McCalls and was a United States Army Veteran. Preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, 1 brother, Frank & 1 sister, Betty, John is survived by his children, Larry Tabbert and Linda Staley (Ed), both of Vandalia; 4 grandchildren, Amy, Angela, Jeff & Jon; 5 great-grandchildren, Cole, Jordan, Kyle, Justin & Ryan; 2 sisters, Dorothy & Evelyn and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, January 4 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Bobbi Predmore officiating. Burial to follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm.
