John W. Workman

December 15, 1932 — February 2, 2014

WORKMAN, John W., age 81 of Vandalia passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1932 in Brush Creek, OH, son of the late Miner R. & Freda I. (Stape) Workman. John was a retired employee of the Dayton Tire & Rubber Co. and a 1952 graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1961 and was a member of the American Legion Post #668 for over 41 years. Preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters, John is survived by 2 daughters, Amy Workman & Lori McCormick; step-son, Tim Macy; 1 sister, Nora; 1 grandchild, Tacie McCormick and 3 step-grandchildren, Cortney Tipton and Connor & Carter Macy; 1 great-grandchild, Jacye Wells, and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Jayden & Kale Tipton along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. It was John's wish that his body be cremated and a Graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, February 10 at the Dayton National Cemetery, 4100 W. Third St., Dayton. Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
