Jonathon Edward Cox

Passed unexpectedly after a brief illness on Sunday, March 3, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Jon is survived by his parents, John & Nancy; his brother, Jacob; and his sister, Aubrey. His grandparents, Estell & Richard Lake and Jim & Sherry Heath. He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and many friends he considered family. Jon was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Edward and Christine Cox, with whom he shared a special bond; Will and Annabelle King; Joanne and Stanley Heath; uncle, Scott Cox and great uncles, Greg and Kenny Heath.

Jon was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to all. He graduated from Tippecanoe High School in 2011 where he enjoyed football, theater and bowling. He proceeded to obtain an associate degree in Sound Engineering at the International College of Broadcasting. He had the opportunity to work for ESPN Radio before moving to Cleveland. Jon worked as a contractor for Rae Trent Remodeling, ACME Fence and Akron Window.

Jon was known for his sense of humor, his passion for life and his ability to light up any room he entered. He participated in many community theater productions and continued to entertain us all with the many characters he portrayed. He had a wicked comedic timing you just had to see for yourself.

Jon was a die-hard Browns fan who faithfully repeated at the start of every season: “THIS IS OUR YEAR! He was loyal, not only to Cleveland, but also to his family and friends. He was a movie and music fanatic. He would give you his honest review of the latest movie or song, whether you asked for it or not, and at whatever time of day (or night) he wanted to tell you.

Jon enjoyed annual family Florida beach vacations, many cruises and all inclusives as well as an outstanding Italy adventure. He also loved lake trips with his friends. He liked card games, board games, watching movies, creating music (remember his songs? He was a lyrical poet!), playing video games, and eating hot wings. Jon thought laughter was the best medicine. When we think of Jon we think of charisma, charm, class & chaos all rolled into ONE!

Jon was comfortable in his own skin and somehow, in a way only Jon knew how, made you feel comfortable in yours.
