Joseph B. “Joe” McGovern

Age 52, of Huber Heights, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Grandview Hospital.  Joe was born on April 19, 1968, in Fairborn, Ohio to the late Charles C., Jr. and Jean E. (Connolly) McGovern.  In addition to his parents, he was also proceeded in death by his brothers, Frederick J. Utzinger, III and Charles (Chuck) C. McGovern, III; nephew Charles C. McGovern IV; sister, Fosie (McGovern) and brother-in-law, Frain (Steve) Stephenson.

He is survived by sisters Sherrie (Jon) Hilty; Charma (Dave) Ridgeway; Mary (Jim) Tucker; brother, Mike McGovern; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Utzinger and Tina (Poppa) McGovern, as well as extended family and friends.  Joe is also survived by his childhood friends, Wally Jenkins and Billy Reed.

Joe was a mold maker for 34 years and was recently employed by JTAR Innovations.  He was happiest cruising backroads on his motorcycle with friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at from 2-4 p.m. at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia, Ohio, with a short prayer service beginning at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Joe’s memory to the Greater Dayton Humane Society or other charity of your choice.
