Joseph A. Dranschak
Age 78, of Vandalia, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at his home. Joe was born November 28, 1943 in Syracuse, New York to the late Nicholas & Anna (Oleksak) Dranschak. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded by his siblings, Nicholas Dranschak, Carol Drumm & Mary Ann Mackey.
Joe was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church for the past 45 years. He was a U. S. Navy veteran having served on the USS Everglades. Joe started his working career with Mohawk Airlines (US Air) where he developed their reservation system. Later he went to GMAC (EDS) and then to the State of Ohio Department of Job & Family Services from which he retired. After that he served as President of the Historical Society of Vandalia & Butler Twp. He served on numerous committees to promote interests in Vandalia & Butler Twp. In 2019 he was honored to be named Citizen of the Year and December 21, 2021 was declared “Joseph A. Dranschak Day.”
Joe is survived by his loving wife of the past 54 years, Jennie (Giordano) Dranschak; two children, Danielle Dranschak (James) and David Allan Dranschak (Leslie); six grandchildren, Jaiden, Madison, Hannah, Sydney, Cassie & Dominic; one brother, Bernard Dranschak (Linda); and by his extended family & many good friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Road, Vandalia. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. John Tonkin at 11:00 a.m., Friday (6/17). Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia.
