MONNIN, Joseph I., age 78, of Vandalia passed away Friday, October 29, 2010. He was born March 19, 1932 in Russia, Ohio. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, was a retired employee of A.O. Smith Company and proudly served his country as a member of the US Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his parents, Leo & Marie Monnin, brother, Barney and sister, Sister Teresa Monnin. Joseph is survived by his daughter, Nancy Puckett (Gordon); grandchildren, Nicole Law (Jeremy) and Travis Puckett; brothers, James, Bede, Guy, Mark, Raymond, Leon, and Clem Monnin; sisters, Ursula Pierron, Rose Lachet, Lucy Oen, and Dorothy Hathaway. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 1, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm and at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until time of Mass.
