Kathleen Cooney

COONEY, Kathleen J., Kay , age 97 of Englewood, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Alterra Sterling House in Englewood. She was born March 7, 1911 in Columbus, OH, daughter of the late Michael & Ella (Finan) Cooney. Kay was a member of the St. Christopher Catholic Church and was an avid bridge player as a member of the Vandalia Senior Citizens. She was a retired Executive Secretary from WPAFB. Preceded in death by 5 brothers & sisters, Kay is survived by 2 sisters, Margaret Cooney and Helen Hilton, both of Englewood; niece, Mary & husband, Dan Menke of Englewood; nephews, Mark & wife, Connie Hilton of Beavercreek & Mike & wife, Lynda Hilton of Kettering; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 24 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church in Kays memory. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Alterra Sterling House and Southern Hospice for all of the compassionate care they provided to Kay.
