Kathleen L. Wendeln

Wendeln, Kathleen L age 94 formerly of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday December 26, 2023 in Peoria, AZ.  She was born June 21, 1929 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Raymond and Corinne (Turney) Studer.  She was a member of St Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia.  Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Melvin in 2009.  She is survived by 2 daughters Christine (Jim) Miller and Patricia (Bruce) Truhlar and 2 sons Thomas (Stavy) and Timothy (Donice); 5 grandchildren Caitlyn (Ed), Raymond, Randall (Megan),  Jason (Kelsey), and Tiffany; 5 great grandchildren Evan, Adalyn, Braden, Tatum and Jace; and a host of other relatives and friends.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday January 8 at 11:00am at St Christopher Catholic Church 435 E. National Rd Vandalia.  The burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10am until time of the mass at 11am.

The family would like to especially thank the staff and caregivers at Pinnacle Peak Group Home for their love and care for Mom during the last 18 months.  We would also like to thank Carrie Lane, Mom’s Geriatric Care Manager for her help, expertise, and guidance during her time in Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Katie to:  American Cancer Society, Alzheimers Association, Hospice, or St Christopher Catholic Church.
