Kathy A. Tucker

October 24, 1944 — December 3, 2017

Tucker, Kathy A.

Age 73 of Vandalia, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, slipped the surly bonds of earth on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 to touch the face of God. Kathy was born in Dayton on October 24, 1944 to the late Kenneth Joseph and Mary Ellen (Hickey) Pfarrer. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Paul Pfarrer. She is survived by four sons Kevin, Brian, Darin (Molly) and Scott; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister Linda (Roger) Nortillo; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Kathy never knew a stranger and enjoyed helping others. It was said there are three forms of communication on this earth; telephone, telegraph and tell Kathy. She was an avid reader, enjoyed her time on the computer and gardening. At one time she was a couponer extraordinaire (before there was a Groupon), a Den mother and drove carpool to a myriad of sporting events and assorted activities. Kathy also served as the “second mother” to many of the kids in the Dayton neighborhood in which her sons came of age, and was known to many as “Mother Tucker.” She was a graduate of the University of Dayton and worked as a teacher, retiring from Dayton Job Corps. She also worked a number of other side hustles including wallpapering and selling Avon, to help keep a household filled with four hungry, ornery boys afloat. She is at peaceful rest with the Lord and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, OH 45377. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 9, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 405 E. National Road, Vandalia, OH 45377 with Rev. Fr. John Tonkin officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Kathy’s name. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mortonwhetstonefh.com.
