CATE, Kline L., age 81, of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at his residence. He was born December 1, 1926 in New Carlisle, OH, son of the late Will E. & Ruth (Puterbaugh) Cate. Kline was a US Army Veteran, a member of the Polk Grove United Church of Christ where served on the Spiritual Board, was a member of the Vandalia Baseball Commission and was a founding member of the Vandalia Little League and was a retired inspector with General Motors. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, Kenny & Elwood Cate, Kline is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pauline (Ketcham); his four children, Gary Cate (Susan) of CA, Lois Vorhees (John) of Tipp City, Dennis Cate (Linda) of Englewood, and Pam Hartman (Leroy) of Dayton; 3 sisters, Beulah Burbage of TX, Lucille Estridge (Omar) of New Carlisle and Mary Hodack of Dayton; 2 brothers, Bill Cate (Jimmie Lee) of FL and Virgil Cate of Dayton; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 6, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. John Fowler and Rev. Gail Sims officiating. Burial to follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Klines memory.
