Larry L. Miranda

Age 79, of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at The Hospice of Dayton. Larry was born November 18, 1938 to the late Ned Miranda & Betty Coughlin. In addition to his parents, Larry was also preceded in death by a daughter Cindy Strader, a brother Scott Coughlin, a granddaughter Jayme Miranda and by his beloved dog, Brutus.

Larry was an avid fan of all sports but was particularly loyal to THE Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Cincinnati Reds. Larry was born at home in East Dayton. He grew up working in his dad’s filling stations. He was an all-star football and baseball player in high school. He graduated from Wilbur Wright High. Larry was a volunteer firefighter for Waynesville as well as a long time employee of NCR, Inland, and GMC, where he retired from. If you knew Larry, then you’d know the only thing he loved more than sports was his family and friends. He taught those around him the true meaning of loyalty, honesty and most important love.

Larry is survived by a large and loving family: four children; Kelly Miranda (George), Carrie Zellers (Tim), Kevin Miranda (Hongri Fan) & Rob Strader (Angie); numerous grandchildren Kevin (Richie), Joey, Jesse, Kaylee, Steven, Evelyn, Tara, Ashley, Brian, Kelly, Tony, Michael, Joe, and James, Cindy and Christine; and by four siblings, James Miranda (Brenda), Susan McClellan (Jerry), Shelly Dornbusch (David) & Cyndi Mullins. Numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

The family asks that all visitors wear sports gear to honor Larry and his love of sports, all but one team is acceptable, No Xichigan…No joke.

The family will be receiving friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 29, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Tommy Chattin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Larry to The Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
