Lawrence D. "Don" Boggs

Lawrence D. "Don" Boggs Age 78, of Tipp City, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Don was born June 6, 1937 in Gauge, KY to the late Lonnie & Carrie (Roberts) Boggs. He was a member of the Vandalia Baptist Temple for over 35 years, where he served as a trustee and usher for many of those years. Don was also a Kentucky Colonel, a veteran of both the U. S. Army and the Ohio National Guard, and he retired with 28 years of service from Dayton Steel Foundry. Don is survived by his wife of the past 58 years, Jalie (Jackson) Boggs; two sons, Donald Scott (Amy) Boggs and Rodney Keith Boggs; two sisters, Christina Ruth (Omer) Tipton and Virginia Lee Arnett; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and by his extended family & many good friends. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday (8/15) at the Vandalia Baptist Temple, 724 Helke Rd., Vandalia, OH 45377. The family will also be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Saturday. Pastor Rick Washburn will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. If friends desire, contributions may be made in Don's memory to the Vandalia Baptist Temple.
