Lawrence E. Schlairet

Of Vandalia, Ohio passed away September 4, 2017 at Miami Valley Hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Janice Schlairet. He was born August 6, 1934 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Isabelle Schlairet. He served in the US Army. He was a lifetime member of the VFW post 9582 and AMVETS post 99. He was an annual member of the American Legion 668. Lawrence drove truck for 42 years. He was a proud member of The Retired Teamsters 957 and also a member of The American Truck Historical Society. He is survived by sister, Jeanne Schlairet: father to Gary Schlairet, Ronald Schlairet, Nancy Schlairet, Pamela Schlairet, and Penny Schlairet; stepfather to Larry Harness (Peggy), Theresa Gatzulis (John), Garry Harness (Becky), Brian Harness (Pam), and Dan Harness; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Friday September 8 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Christopher Church, 435 E. National Rd., Vandalia on Saturday September 9 at 10:30 a.m. with additional visitation from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Lawrence’s honor to St. Christopher Church or Vitas Hospice.
