Lawrence Edward Chatterton, 72, of Antwerp OH (formerly of West Alexandria, OH) went to be with the Lord on November 7th, 2023.
He attended Grace Baptist South Church in West Carrollton, OH, Berachah Church West Campus of Middletown, OH and First Baptist Church in Antwerp, OH. With his wife Virginia.
Larry was a wonderful husband, Dad and friend who always brought a smile to everyone that he met. A quick-witted soul who always seemed to know what to say in good times as well as rough ones. He was that guy everyone knew, loved and could hear before you seen him.
If you knew Larry, you would have a great story to tell because he was a larger-than-life good ol’ boy. He was an excellent mechanic that worked on cars and trucks his whole life. He also repaired semi-trucks at Wise Garage and his Larry’s Road Service business. Cheap Auto Wreckers, Freeway Auto Parts, Payless Towing and Toad One Towing were other companies he ran and helped those around him.
He loved his children, grandchildren and even children he met in public. For years his favorite pastime was talking to children and encouraging them to show love to their family. Trading a hot wheel, doll, dollar, or other trinket in exchange for the child to tell their mommy, daddy, grandma or grandpa you love them before they could receive the gift they worked for. He would ask little girls “How did you get so pretty?” or “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?” He enjoyed sharing the responses from the kids with others.
Larry was preceded in death by his Mom Virginia Chatterton, Dad Emory Chatterton, 2 brothers Emory Chatterton Jr, and James Chatterton, his daughter Heather Chatterton, 2 grandsons Zachary Chatterton and Chase Chatterton.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Virginia Chatterton and ex-wife Beverly (Frank) Paulin, sister Deborah Bryant, 2 brothers Erice Chatterton and Timothy (Pat) Chatterton, sons James Chatterton, Michael (Mindy) Chatterton, Kelly (Martha) Chatterton, Christopher (Crystal) Chatterton, Trent (Lisa) Shorter, Travis Focht (Laura), Daniel (Brandi) Chatterton and Dustin (Haley) Chatterton, and daughter Brittany (Josh) Coulter, nieces, nephews, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He will be missed by all till we meet again.
