Leroy Oakes

Age 92, of Trotwood, Ohio departed this life on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, and went on to be with the Lord following an extended decline in health.

He is survived by his loving wife of the past 67 years, Lillian L. (Vinson) Oakes; a brother, Curtis; daughters, Cheryl, Kathy & husband, Greg; son, Charles & wife, Delilah; and by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Alice; son, Ronald; and two brothers, Chuck and Harvey.

Born May 19, 1924 in Robbins, Tennessee, he resided in Dayton, Ohio most of his adult life. He served in two military branches, both the Army and Airforce. He worked at McCall’s Printing Company, United Color Press, and later Furst Florist. He enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, bowling, and horseshoes. He has enjoyed the friendships of many fellow Christians over the years, and was a member of the Cassel Hills Church of Christ.

A memorial service will be held at the Cassel Hills Church of Christ on Saturday, November 5, at 11:00 a.m with Minister David Edmonds officiating.
