HOLT, Lewis L., age 86, of Englewood, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Alterra Sterling House of Englewood. He was born May 3, 1922 in St. Louis, MO, was a retired employee of General Motors with 34 years of service and was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WW II. Preceded in death by his wife, Ruby G. Holt, his mother & step-father, Lucy M. & William H. Barner, and his father, Robert W. Holt, Lewis is survived by 1 son, Robert L. & wife, Kathy of Dayton; 1 grandson, Michael A. Holt; 1 great-granddaughter, Olivia Holt; 1 brother, William Barner & wife, Lila of Dayton; 3 sisters, Letha Bailey, Nelda Casebolt and Virginia & husband, Bob Jones; a special friend, Dr. Leonard J. Simons of Mission, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, July 16, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Perry Bilyeu officiating. Burial to follow at Bear Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of service. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at the Alterra Sterling House of Englewood for all the love and excellent care they provided for Lewis.
