DOWNEY, Lillian E. (Anglin) Pat age 89, of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born June 11, 1918 in Fairview, TN, daughter of the late George & Ruby (Deal) Anglin. Pat was a retired employee of the Vandalia-Butler City Schools, a member of the Huber Heights Church of Christ and a top salesperson with Avon. Pat placed a high value on education and was honored as the best student in her high school. Preceded in death by her husband, Glen Downey in 1999; 2 sisters, Esther Austin & Gertrude Henke; 1 brother, Robert Anglin & her son-in-law, David Bitner, Lillian is survived by her 2 daughters, Glenda Bitner of Vandalia and Cynthia & husband, Tom Scott of Columbus; 2 grandchildren, Bethany Colby-Lauffenburger & husband, Dave and Charles David Bitner III & wife, Natalie; 4 great-grandchildren, Matthew & Jonathan Colby, Charles David Bitner IV Chase & Ireland Marie Bitner; 3 sisters, Ida Hudgins, Sarah Sweeney & Una Mai Langer; 1 brother, Hubert Anglin and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 7 at the Huber Heights Church of Christ, 4925 Fishburg Rd., Huber Heights with Mr. Ron Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at Downey Cemetery in Hohenwald, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday (TODAY) at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Huber Heights Church of Christ or to the Vandalia-Butler Foundation for a scholarship to be established in memory of Glen & Pat Downey.
