Lois M. Herbst Age 87 of Vandalia, passed away Monday, December 7, 2014 at Stonespring of Vandalia, where she has been a resident for the last two and a half years. She was born November 23, 1927 in Covington, KY, daughter of the late Richard & Florence Carr. Lois was a member of the Vandalia Baptist Temple and volunteered at the Crossroads Nursing & Rehab Center of Vandalia, formerly Vandalia Park. She is survived by her husband, Harry G. Herbst III; 2 sons, Marc L. Herbst (Julie) and Richard M. Herbst (Holly); 5 grandchildren, Christian, Heather, Emily, Ricky and Jack; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 12 at the Vandalia Baptist Temple, 724 Helke Rd., Vandalia with Rev. Rick Washburn officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Thursday evening from 5-8 pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Vandalia Baptist Temple in Lois's memory. The Herbst family would like to offer a special thank you to the Stonespring Community for the care and compassion shown to Lois throughout her stay.
