LONGLEY, Luther W., (Lou) age 84, of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2007 at his residence. Lou was born October 21, 1922 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Luther & Susanna (Dell) Longley. He was a WW II Air Force Veteran and a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his sister, Leola Cavalier, his brother, Charles Longley and his brother-in-law, Robert Ashley, all of MD, Lou is survived by his wife of 60 years, Adele (Markey) of Vandalia; daughters, Diane Shelton, Marilyn Music (Lon), and Peggy Eads (Lou); sons, Edward Longley (Wally), Dan Longley (Vicki) and David Longley; his sister, Betty Ashley of MD; grandchildren, Lisa, Kelly, Kevin, Ron, Eric, Chrystal, Katie, Kyle, Courtney, Cullen, Stacy, and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Conner; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Lou worked for Don Wannamaker Advertising Art and Long & Associates for many years before retiring. He was an artist and an avid golfer. Lou was a member of the Ohio Watercolor Society and a sustaining member of the American Watercolor Society in NY. He was also a member of the Dayton Visual Arts Council. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 17 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 E. National Rd, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Vandalia. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, St. Judes Childrens Hospital or to the charity of your choice in Lous memory.
