Margaret Frazer

FRAZER, Margaret Vera (GRUSE), age 97 of Vandalia, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 at Grandview Hospital. She was born March 8, 1913 near Ohio County, West Virginia, daughter of the late William Ervin & Essie Violet (Way) Gruse. Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, Margaret is survived by 1 sister, Mary Lou (Gruse) & husband, Lawrence Voss; 1 brother, Lloyd W. Gruse; 2 daughters, Marcia Jeanne Townsend of Kettering & Linda Sue Frazer of CO; 2 grandchildren, Kimberely (Steven Ponticelli) and Andre Compton (Sue) and 5 great-grandchildren, Austin, Savannah and Cheyenne Ponticelli, Stephanie & Lauren Compton. Mrs. Frazer was educated in the Ohio County West Virginia District schools, West Liberty High School. She attended West Liberty State Teachers College and earned her Masters Degree from Miami University, Oxford, OH. She taught first grade and art in the Ohio schools for twenty-seven years and retired in 1975. She is a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daniel Cooper Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Automatic Music Instrument Collectors Association, Piano Technicians Guild Auxiliary, Vandalia Butler Historical Society, Vandalia Butler Teachers and the Ohio Teachers Association. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, February 20 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Thomas Weeks officiating. Graveside service to follow, Coss Cemetery, Belfast, OH at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Friday evening from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra in Margarets memory.
