Marilyn Anne Welling

August 20, 1957 — January 19, 2019

Marilyn Anne Welling (nee Luttenberger)

8/20/1957 to 1/19/19

Marilyn passed away unexpectedly in her sleep the morning of January 19th at her home. Marilyn was born to Frederick and Mary (Rowland) Luttenberger on August 20, 1957 in Cedarville. She was a graduate of Cedarville High School in 1975 and Wright State University 1979 with a Bachelor’s degree in English. Later she obtained her Master’s of Library Science from Kent State University.

Marilyn just recently retired from Wright Memorial Library in Oakwood. Previously she had worked for various firms/companies as a paralegal. Marilyn was the true definition of a kind and loving child of God. No matter her own challenges she always was there to cheer up her family and friends with her words and actions. Marilyn loved to read and much of her free time was spent reading and watching movies. She liked to boast that as a child she read every book in the Cedarville Library. She was a loving and compassionate wife always supporting Frank in his many professional and sports related activities. From not being able to find where the football was for an entire OSU game she rose to the point where she was calling “blitzes” for the defense. Those who knew her would understand. Also, Marilyn was a bit of a “klutz” and frequently stumbled, bumped into or fell over simple obstacles in life. Crossing the street could be a challenge. We all laughed and went on. She loved nature (taught by father and grandfather – both Fred’s) and taught Frank how to spot red-tail hawks, bald eagles, and pileated woodpeckers. A drive in the car was always a mini nature trip. She loved to travel, especially internationally to the Netherlands and Italy. One of her fondest memories was the river cruise from Paris to Normandy with Frank, brother David and wife Karen.

Marilyn and Frank were married February 17, 2007 and enjoyed nearly 20 years sharing each other’s love. She worshiped her father Fred and was devoted to caring for him. She loved her sons Andy and Alex more than they will ever know. She loved and was loved by step-son Josh especially for her support and devotion to Josh’s mother during her death. She was a proud grandma.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother.

She is survived by her husband, Frank, sons Andrew and Alex Huckeby and step-son Josh Welling; her father Fred Luttenberger, brother David (Karen) Luttenberger; nieces Reilly (Chris) Marshall and Morgan Luttenberger; grand children Finley Huckeby, Madison, Rylie and MacKenzie Robertson and Harper and Zella Huckeby.
