Mark William Zurn

ZURN, Mark William age 58 of Vandalia, passed away Saturday September 17, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. Mark was born August 14, 1958 in Erie, PA son of the late Tom & Mary Margaret Zurn. He was a graduate of Vandalia Butler High School Class of 1976. He served as a public safety officer for the City of Oakwood for 3 years and was a Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff for 27 years. He was honored to be a trustee of the Montgomery County F.O.P. #104 for many years. Mark was a die-hard Steelers fan and had a special place in his heart for man’s best friend. He also enjoyed coaching his sons’ sports teams for many years. Mark is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Suzanne (Middleton) Zurn; 2 sons Ryan, and Aaron (Brittany) ; his 3 loving grandchildren Keegan, Taytum, and Porter; 2 brothers Terry (Laura) and Scott (Kevin McGuffey); sister-in-law Vicki (Bill) Brown; 2 brothers-in-law Matt Middleton and Tony (Amy) Middleton; sister-in-law Pam Kraft and stepmother-in-law Mary Kay Middleton; aunt Carol Zurn; nephew Rob Brown; nieces Julie (Brent) Davidson, Jessica (Tokata) Lively and grand-nieces Lainey Brown, Vivienne and Charlotte Davidson, Abby and Hannah Kraft. Mark was also loved by many special friends, neighbors and community members. Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 21 at 10:30am at the Vandalia United Methodist Church 200 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Mike Malcosky officiating. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Tuesday evening from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Operation Heal Our Patriots or to Hospice of Dayton in Marks memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
