Marlowe Scott Hawkins Jr.

August 1, 1924 — June 24, 2014

HAWKINS, Marlowe Scott Jr. (89), born 1 August 1924 went peacefully and triumphantly home on 24 June 2014 at 9:25 pm to be with Jesus. His passing was due to natural causes. Marlowe was preceded in death by his parents, Marlowe Scott Hawkins, Sr. (1968) and Electa Foster Hawkins (1992); his siblings, Nancy McNevin (2010), Cynthia Bentley (2007), Allen Hawkins (1992), Ellen Dubner (1970), and also by his daughter, Virginia Lynn Hawkins McDonald (2005), Marlowe is survived by his wife, Martha Jane Finehout Hawkins; son, Ralph Edwin Hawkins and his wife, Nancy Owen-Hawkins and their sons, Braden Hawkins (wife Ashley Hawkins) from Texas, and Nathan Hawkins (wife Taryn Hawkins) from California, and their son, Ethan Hawkins and daughter, Madison Hawkins; son, David Hawkins; granddaughter, Hannah McDonald Burbick (Virginia's daughter), (husband, James Burbick), and her daughters, Mackenzie Burbick, Haley Burbick and her son, Caedmon Burbick; grandson, Zachary McDonald (Virginia's son) (wife Tabitha) and their daughters, Jessica McDonald, Brooklyn McDonald, and their son, Ashton McDonald. Marlowe was a Navy WWII Veteran, (Petty Officer, Third Class) having served in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters. He worked for thirty years as an Executive Office Manager for the Iron Workers and serviced the Tri-State area. After retirement, Marlowe volunteered at the National Museum of the United States Air Force for six years. His favorite activity was taking his sailboat out on the water to enjoy the peaceful beauty and quiet of the North Channel. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm Friday, June 27 at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 28 at Royal Oak Cemetery Chapel, 7217 National Road, Brookville, OH.
