Martha (Magruder) Sturr

STURR, Martha (Magruder), age 96, of Dayton, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Walnut Creek Nursing Home. Born in Carlisle, Ohio, Martha attended Edison and Roosevelt schools in Dayton. She was in sales at Rikes for twenty years and retired as Assistant Activities Director at Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River, Florida. She attended Community United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Sturr Jr., son, Thomas P. Sturr and great-grandson, Alex Hoerner, Martha is survived by one sister, Betty Lou Magruder, three daughters, Fay Young (Roger), Jeanne Sims (Mike), & Patricia Sturr; seven grandchildren, Christine Spencer, Michelle Moody (Dennis), Lisa Perry (Kevin), John Bair, Greg Sims (Vicki), Robert Bair and Jeffrey Bair (Amy); 10 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, September 24 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Ken Kirk of Aley United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 pm until time of service. Interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida at a later date. The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton and the staff at Walnut Creek Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided Martha.
